Beautiful sandy beaches, calm waterways of Brisbane Water and spectacular national parks hug the beach, which create a range of opportunities to enjoy the beauty of nature. Take your pick from swimming, stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, cycling and boating.

Ettalong Beach is a beautiful beach overlooking the Brisbane Water Estuary and is mostly calm and shallow. It is an excellent beach for families and you can take advantage of paddleboarding and fishing, as well as swimming. If you head southeast along Broken Bay you will uncover more golden sand beaches curving around the coastline. Following this takes you to Ocean Beach, Umina and Pearl Beach.

Ettalong has excellent boating facilities and you can hire a small boast or kayak to cruise around the beautiful calm waters. If you are looking for a bit of surf, but not too big, Ocean Beach Umina is perfect for beginner surfers. The waves are quite small, making learning to surf much easier.

Ettalong Beach has great cycle paths. You can hire bikes from Ettalong Bike Hire and follow the shared cycling and walking path along the Esplanade or explore the Warrah Trig cycling loop, a 10km loop through Brisbane Water National Park. Warrah lookout has amazing views across Broken Bay and the Hawkesbury River, well worth the walk just to see these stunning views.
