Explore Booker Bay

Booker Bay is situated in the Woy Woy Peninsula on NSW’s Central Coast. Staying in Booker Bay gives you access to a picturesque coastal village of Ettalong Beach situated beside the popular Brisbane Waters. Located south-east of Woy Woy, this lazy fishing town is located about 80 kilometres north of Sydney and forms part of the Gosford Shire. Accessible from Sydney and Newcastle via the M1 motorway (formerly F3), Booker Bay is a short drive to Woy Woy railway station. Ettalong Beach is the sister suburb of Booker Bay with both towns originally occupied by the Dharruk and Darkinjung Indigenous communities. European settlers soon discovered the area shortly after settling in Botany Bay.

Retaining the historic charm of a once thriving fishing and boat building community, arts and crafts and good food are popular in the community as well as Ettalong’s Cinema Paradiso theatre. Ettalong Beach is only minutes away which is home to a variety of cafes, restaurants, home wares stores and more. For those who love the beach, Ocean and Umina Beaches are close by and surfers can enjoy the famous local beach known as Box. The local wharf has regular ferry services travelling between Ettalong, Wagstaffe and Palm Beach.

While the area is a popular holiday destination for tourists, much of the population is made up of permanent residents. Take a walk along the foreshore and gorgeous beaches and you’ll soon discover the locals – they’re the ones who look relaxed!
