Planning your Ettalong Beach Holiday – Things to do/ Places to eat
Outside of the resort there are many things to do to keep you and the family busy and entertained for hours on end. Not only is there beautiful beaches and National Parks, but great places to eat and shop. Take a stroll around Ettalong Beach and discover things to do for yourself. Enjoy the seaside village, you won’t be disappointed in the charm of this beautiful location.
Ettalong Beach
Ettalong Beach has beautiful white sand, calm waterways with no waves and is surrounded by National Park. It really is the best place to enjoy the beauty of nature. The beach is calm with no waves like some of the bigger beaches on the Coast. Take your pick from swimming, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing or boating to cycling around the town, visiting favourite locations along the way.
If you are more of a keen surfer then a beautiful walk to Ocean and Umina Beach will give you all the surf you need and for more adventurous surfers you can head to Avoca, Terrigal or MacMasters Beach to name a few. These beaches have better surf for the more advanced surfers.
Restaurants, Cafes & Markets
Ettalong Beach has some fantastic Cafes and Restaurants including the well known The Box on the Water that has a restaurant serving up beautifully fresh and local ingredients. The menu is all about modern Australia cuisine. Coupled with a stunning location and atmosphere, you can’t go wrong. Perfect for a relaxing lunch, dinner or cocktails that also deliver a side of panoramic views across Broken Bay to Box Head. The bar makes amazing cocktails and there is a beach kiosk as well. Box on the Water is open for lunch and everyday, dinner from Thursday to Saturday and breakfast Saturday and Sunday only. Friday to Sunday afternoon has sunset sips from 3pm to 6pm. If you are not keen on the higher prices, the kiosk is fantastic. The beer battered fish tacos are an excellent meal, burgers are fantastic and the fish, chips and calamari is outstanding as well. The Box on the Water is a MUST when holidaying in Ettalong.
Coast 175 is another excellent cafe that celebrates the best local and seasonal produce of the Central Coast, the famous CAMPOS Coffee and regular changing specials. This is a local favourite, and a holiday rule is to go where the locals go. Boasting a large menu, Coast have amazing breakfasts from Bacon & Egg Rolls & Eggs Benedict to Brioche French toast with strawberries and maple syrup. Lunch serves up delicious fish tacos (that certainly rival The Box on the Water), lamb gyros plate, and a delicious vegan option of tabouli bowl. There is something for everyone at Coast, making it one of our favourite cafes at Ettalong Beach, along with the locals.
Opposite Coast is the well known Galleria which hosts the famous Ettalong Markets since 1979 and Cinema Paradiso as well as a large range of restaurants and boutique shops. Galleria has been styled to have the ambience of the Mediterranean with 6 piazzas, hand painted frescos and statues throughout the village. There are multiple award winning restaurants including Yusu Japanese, Gusto Italian Bistro, La Fiamma Pizzeria, Beef & Barramundi Grill & Bar & Safran Turkish Cuisine & Bar. The cafes include Sasa Sicilian Artisan Bakery, Embrace Wellness Bar and Maxima Coffee, to name just a few. There is a large variety of shops selling everything from shoes, homewares, jewellery and soap bouquets to cosmetic clinics, yoga studio and hairdressing. Again, the Galleria is a must see when holidaying here in Ettalong Beach.
